See this door frame to the wall hang the windows and call up the clerk
Craft patterns of distress interest find a good place to work
Rattle off the midlife in the back of the kitchen
go to the grave the same way of foreign family member did
An elephant dancing on coals
It's silhouette trembling into the walls
I took my leave for a while now
This unsound framework must come down
Inherit an unflinching disgust with the living
Take off your coat pour out the pain for an evening
Pistols pointed at the engine block
there's a pill to make the pressure stop
and overhead the stars begin to sing
the moon afloat in it's own fantastic grin
smile at everyone I meet
until they smile back at me
I'm growing less and less indifferent
more ashamed more conditioned

20 in the 20's

Like the invention of the automatic machine gun
or the prescription of the automated telling machine
I am the advent of automobile transport
in a time of great and terrifying anger
Like a dog with only three legs left
I am the sunken sickly place he goes to lie
I am the grime between his paw pads and the pavement
in a time of a great and terrifying anger
Brothers sisters I have all but lost the plot
mothers misters I can't grasp what you have got
tires pulling into driveways as families reconnect
I'm like an infant being raised on the Internet
in a time of a great and terrifying anger
In a time of a great and terrifying anger
In a time of great and unforgiving anger
In a time of a great and unrelenting anger
In a time of a great and terrifying anger

Bank Robbery
02:47
|
|||
Wheels tumbling through the night as if
the past won't haunt you train plane or ship
and in the backseat there's a grief case
which is handcuffed to the wrist
of a super secret person
so I can't say who he is
With his bright claws there's the driver
his hair on end and standing still
driving 80 miles an hour
with the windows down till
Counter to your instincts
not quite as you’d expect
in the middle of the desert
a dark cloud amassed overhead
and it said; go ahead now bring the roaring
of your engine pumping blood
now we're racing against the dawn
and I fear for the four of us

Sister's Wedding
02:32

And since your mother can't forgive me
won't be at your sister’s wedding
won’t grow old beside you retract my nails and learn to sing like la da da
When the weatherman cut through the car and everybody stops,
when the Earth has had its fill of us and there’s the last stock market drop
I won’t hold hands with you but I'll forget whoever did us wrong
you ever notice how the good old men are quiet yet so full of love like la da da
No I won't owe you any verses many verses about the lies
the sunken city it creeps in on me but that’s no reason why
I closed my eyes took them away and I went and locked you in a box
of course I’m oversimplifying because words are not enough
so I’ll shut up
I'll say I'm sorry I won't show up
Not trying to get what I want
I'm exercising no love
not trying to get to the front
I'm realizing dead love
And since your mother can't forgive me won't be at your sister’s wedding

Morning Comm-u-tist
02:45
|
|||
Soft morning of December
with the quiet of the dawn
when every engine needs a minute
to warm up before they move on
the people in the city
drive slow on the way in
ice caked across the road like
diamonds in the deep end
and there's a crippling sort of scare
when the traffic starts to stop
and my head continues rolling
but my heart can't help and drop
and it'll take several years to parse this out
it's been several years without a doubt
since a resounding pang ran through my blood
but the highway’s blocked and now you're gone
Steam crawling through the cage
of some sewer and the forgotten
pebbles piling up
leaves get wet then get rotten
vapors rising from the roofs
connecting the skylines
like some atrium to heaven
with these buildings on both sides
trucks pile through the lanes
smoke rises from their windows
they must feel so strange
because no matter how far they go
their setting stays the same
interior perfection
even with the changing
scenes there's a real lack of connection
and it'll take several years to parse this out
it's been several years without a doubt
since a resounding pang ran through my blood
but the highway’s blocked and now you're gone
And now you’re gone
